Classroom Assessment

Teachers use a wide range of assessment methods, applied in a variety of situations, in order to gather information about student learning. Please visit Classroom Assessment for more information.

Report Cards

Your child(ren) will receive a Provincial Report Card, which is used in all secondary schools in Ontario.  The report card is either a first report, or a final report (for semestered schools), or a first report, second report, or final report (for non-semestered schools).

Please visit Grade 9-12 Report Card for more information about secondary report cards.

Provincial Testing

The Ontario Ministry of Education has mandated a program of province-wide testing. Currently, students across the province participate in testing in grades 3, 6, 9 and 10.

The Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) designs the tests, scores student responses, and reports the results to the public.

All students in grade 9 applied or academic math courses must participate in the EQAO Grade 9 Math Assessment. For more information about the EQAO Grade 9 Math Assessment please visit Frequently Asked Questions – Grade 9 Math Assessment.

The Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) is a mandatory requirement for all grade 10 students in Ontario who are working towards an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). For detailed information about the OSSLT, please visit Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test.
