The Waterloo Education Foundation Inc. (WEFI) is a registered charitable foundation, which operates through the Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) and is managed by a Board of Directors.
Together, the WRDSB and WEFI have had a long-term commitment to providing assistance for students in need, and an equally strong dedication to innovative programs that improve the learning environment for young people. In conjunction with our community partners, WEFI will use its resources to contribute to an environment for learning in which students can be successful.
The Foundation is pleased to accept donations from individuals, corporations and organizations wishing to support a strong public education system in Waterloo Region.
All proceeds benefit students of Waterloo Region in numerous programs at schools in the WRDSB, including:
- school nutrition programs
- multi-lingual and multi-cultural resources for English Language Learners
- support for the less advantaged students with gym uniforms and school supplies
- opportunities to partake in off-campus excursions and field trips, and
- anti-bullying programs and character development through promotion of community values

WEFI 50/50 Fundraising Draw
In 2026, the WEFI 50/50 Fundraising Draw provided an opportunity for staff, parents, families and caregivers to support WEFI’s efforts, and have a chance to win exciting prizes.
The 50/50 Fundraising Draw was launched on May 20, and 50% of each ticket sold went directly to WEFI allowing the foundation to continue its important work of supporting WRDSB students across the region through various programs and initiatives, including those described above, together with our community partners.
2026 Results
In total, our first-ever 50/50 Fundraising Draw raised $81,845.
- $40,922.50 went to support the success of WRDSB students through our various WEFI initiatives
- $40,922.50 went to the main draw winner, Esther P.
- Adam L was our early bird prize winner and received two tickets to the Toronto Blue Jays vs. New York Mets on July 1, 2026.
