Outgoing student trustees reflect on 2016-17 school year






During the month of June, most Waterloo Region District School Board students look forward to leaving the classroom for the summer. But for two students the end of the school year also marks the end of their time in the boardroom. Ryan Barnes and Husayn Jamal will officially finish their terms as Student Trustees on July 31.

Summer school transportation schedules now available






Summer school courses at Waterloo District School Board secondary schools begin on Tuesday, July 4, 2017.

If you are using Student Transportation Services of Waterloo Region (STSWR) to attend summer school, the bus schedules and stop locations are now available. Please be at your bus stop 10 minutes before the scheduled pick-up time.

Elmira District Secondary School’s Team 4917 finished ninth at robotic world championships






The Elmira District Secondary School robotics squad, Team 4917, competed with more than 400 teams from around the world in St. Louis last month at the FIRST® Robotics Competition Championship. The team was part of the alliance that came home with a ninth overall finish at the world championships. The Elmira robotic team is one of two teams in Waterloo Region District School Board and is ranked in the top 60 of the world.

Grade 3 and 6 EQAO assessments begin May 23, Grade 9 assessments on June 5






Beginning Tuesday, May 23, Grade 3 and 6 students will begin EQAO assessments of reading, writing and mathematics. Grade 9 students will complete their assessment of mathematics, beginning on Monday, June 5. Please check with your individual school for exact assessment dates.
