Parents, families and caregivers are important partners in their child’s education. The Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) is committed to working together to provide the best education possible for all students.
Our Commitment to Parents, Families and Caregivers
The Ontario Ministry of Education has established Policy/Program Memorandum No.170 – School Board Communication with Parents. The Better Schools and Student Outcomes Act, 2023, and amendments to the Education Act also address school board communication with parents, families and caregivers. In alignment with these requirements, the WRDSB has outlined a process for communicating with parents, families and caregivers.
We know it is important for parents, families and caregivers to have the information they need to help their child be successful. We are committed to:
- Accountability
- Communicating in clear and accessible language
- Ensuring all families and caregivers can support their child’s academic success and well-being
- Transparency
WRDSB has a variety of processes and tools to communicate with families and caregivers. School and Board websites, direct emails, social media, phone and in-person conversations are among the many ways that we connect, inform, collaborate and engage with families about students’ education. The WRDSB Engagement Charter also reflects our commitment to clear, accountable and transparent communication.
