The Waterloo Region District School Board announced the appointment of Evelyn Giannopoulos and Bill Lemon as superintendents, student achievement and well-being, today.

Giannopoulos and Lemon assume their roles as superintendents on March 20, 2017, after March break.

“I am pleased to welcome Evelyn and Bill to their new positions,” said John Bryant, director of education. “Together they bring the expertise of elementary and secondary education and will provide the senior team with new ideas as we focus on implementing our strategic plan. I look forward to working with them as new members of the senior team.”

Giannopoulos, currently principal at Margaret Avenue PS, has worked as an administrator in the WRDSB for the past 12 years. She is committed to further strengthening our learning environments by celebrating inclusion and the diversity of our students and staff. “I am very proud to join a leadership team that demonstrates such high integrity as we work to serve the needs of each student and their families,” she said.

Lemon joins the WRDSB senior team from Forest Heights Collegiate Institute. “I am very fortunate to have worked in this community for many years. It has been my pleasure to witness the amazing things our staff do for students every day,” he said. Lemon has led Forest Heights since 2011 and served as an administrator in our system for 12 years.

Work to appoint principals to Margaret Avenue and Forest Heights will commence immediately. Giannopoulos and Lemon will aid the transition at the school level to ensure that the school community can continue to focus on student achievement and student and staff well-being.
