Kindergarten isn’t just about play time – it’s about making friends, learning new things, and gaining independence.
At Centennial Cambridge Public School, three Kindergarten classes hosted an open house and their students had the opportunity to invite their ‘big people’ to join them for an afternoon of kindergarten. It was a great way for the students to show off their school work and desk to their family members, as well as engage in learning through various activities, such as music, building, and reading.
The cool thing about this event was that the students were in control of the planning process – they chose the activities they wanted to do, from reading time, freeze dance, to crafts, and they even helped bake and prepare the delicious snacks – cupcakes, finger sandwiches, yogurt, veggies and fruit, and crackers. It was a hands-on experience for each student, from start to finish.
The afternoon was filled with fun and an opportunity to create lasting memories.
