UPower filled the gymnasium at Empire Public School as staff, students and parents had the privilege of listening to the uplifting Sara Westbrook.

The singer, song writer and motivational speaker, who has shared her powerful messages of hope, resilience and respect to more than 100,000 students across Ontario, taught the school community they have the power to make the right choices even though they can’t always control the circumstances. Everyone who attended her performances were inspired by her energy, empowering songs and real-life stories of the adversities she faced.

As admission into the evening performance, the Empire PS Me to We club encouraged guests to bring donations of pillows, single bed sheets, blankets, towels, face cloths, pajamas, underwear, slippers, and socks in various male and female sizes to support the local transitional shelters that play a vital role to many in Waterloo Region community.

All in all it was a day of giving and paying it forward! Sara was given the opportunity to spread her knowledge and motivation, and Empire’s Me to We club helped give back to their community by asking for donations.

The WRDSB is proud of its school community, it is becoming stronger and more caring with each passing minute! Way to go.
