The Waterloo Region District School Board continues to place student safety as a high priority for all of our staff and students. With this in mind, effective immediately, the WRDSB requires that all staff and students (JK-12) wear CSA approved head protection designed for skating during all skating activities. CSA-approved helmets bearing the CSA certification or identification are required. Bicycle helmets are not permitted for skating activities as they are not designed and tested for this purpose. School administrators will communicate this information with families prior to students participating in skating activities. We understand this new requirement will cause some challenges, however this new requirement is intended to ensure consistent health and safety practices for all students and staff.
