Nominations are now closed for WRDSB’s Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC), for the period December 1, 2022 to November 30, 2026.

SEAC is a statutory committee of the Board, providing advice about special education programs and services available to WRDSB students. SEAC meets approximately 10 times during the school year at the Education Centre. Meetings usually occur at 7 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month.

Membership requirements

The committee will include up to 12 members from qualified organizations or associations, and up to six members at large. Eligible nominees are members or staff of qualified organizations or associations.

Qualified local organizations and associations must:

  • be incorporated
  • operate throughout Ontario
  • further the interests and well-being of one or more groups of exceptional children or adults
  • not represent professional educators

Organizations with an interest in special education that do not fully meet the above criteria may apply as a member at large.

Please note that WRDSB employees are not eligible for membership.

Submission guidelines

Organizations and associations are asked to submit their nominations as follows:

  • On letterhead, submit the name of the individual  being nominated. Provide information regarding how that individual represents the interests and well-being of exceptional children or adults.
  • Confirm the individual is a Canadian citizen, a resident of Waterloo Region and qualified to vote for WRDSB Trustees.
  • Provide the name of an alternative representative that may attend meetings when the primary representative is unavailable. The alternate must also meet the above criteria.
  • Indicate in your letter whether your organization is applying as a qualified member or a member at large.
