Mary Anne Caibaiosai joined Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) staff to share about her experiences leading the All Nations Water Walk, which takes place along the Grand River every year.

Caibaiosai is the latest to lead a session as part of the WRDSB Indigenous Education Speaker Series. These sessions are available to all WRDSB staff to support their ongoing professional development and understanding through opportunities to hear from a range of Indigenous guest speakers.

As the Anishinaabe lead for the All Nations Grand River and Credit River water-walks, Caibaiosai shared about how she follows the protocols and teachings of the first Anishinaabe water-walker, who supported her in taking on the work of raising awareness about the sacredness of water in 2017.

Participating staff had the opportunity to learn from Caibaiosai about our collective connections and shared responsibilities to protect and care for water. The learning was a poignant reminder that without water, life would not exist.
