For the last three years, the Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) invited Grade 4, 5 and 6 students to participate in the Meaning of Home writing contest, in support of Habitat for Humanity. The writing contest asked students to submit a poem or essay explaining what home means to them.

Measuring the Impact of WRDSB Students

Well, this year was our most successful year to date!

Out of the 1,197 entries made from Waterloo Region, 1,089 came from students in the WRDSB. This means Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region will receive $10,890 from WRDSB students alone.

A big thank you to all the students who took the time, thought and effort into submitting an entry. You helped make a local impact on our community. We also appreciate all the WRDSB educators and families who encouraged their participation.

Winners of the writing contest will be announced in May. Stay tuned!
