The Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) is pleased to announce the appointment of Eusis Dougan-McKenzie to the position of Executive Officer. Dougan-McKenzie, who was previously the Interim Chief Communications Officer at the WRDSB, will begin this new role on Tuesday, October 11, 2022.

“During her time at the WRDSB, Eusis has proven to be an effective leader. She supported my entry into the organization, and has helped lead the Board through many major strategic initiatives,” said jeewan chanicka, Director of Education at the WRDSB. “Her expertise in stakeholder relations and social responsibility will help us build stronger, more meaningful relationships between the Board and the Region to ensure we’re meeting the needs of all students.”

In this role, Dougan-McKenzie will report to the Director of Education. She will act as a connector between community members, partners, local officials and leaders within the Board, with the goal of improving the academic and well-being outcomes of students. As part of the senior leadership team, Dougan-McKenzie will support the ongoing implementation of the WRDSB’s Strategic Plan and Board Improvement and Equity Plan.

“I am very excited to move into this new role at the WRDSB, and to deepen the relationships between the community and the Board,” said Dougan-McKenzie. “As a parent, I’ve always valued the partnership with educators to support development and well-being. Now I have an opportunity to ensure families, community members, and local government leaders can work more collaboratively with the WRDSB, as we strive to collectively do our best to serve the needs of every student.”

Dougan-McKenzie has been with the WRDSB since June 2021. She brings to the Board more than 25 years of leadership experience in public engagement positions for various government, not-for-profit and professional services organizations.

Dougan-McKenzie holds a BA in Political Science from Carleton University, a Graduate Diploma in Social Responsibility and Sustainability from the University of Toronto, and a Diploma in Corporate Communications from Centennial College.
