December 17 Update:

Updated information from Public Health that the second positive case of Covid-19 in a cohort that is self-isolating did not acquire their infection at school. Based on the definition of what is considered an outbreak, Public Health has determined there is no outbreak in the cohort.

The cohort will continue to self-isolate and Public Health will provide updated guidance to them directly.

Region of Waterloo Public Health has declared a COVID-19 cohort outbreak at Cedar Creek Public School.

Public Health’s investigation has determined another case, a student, is in the same cohort as the case reported last week. One additional high-risk contact has been identified and Public Health will be contacting the affected cohort to provide guidance to them.

The identity of the individual is protected by privacy legislation and will not be shared.

The WRDSB continues to work with Region of Waterloo Public Health to prevent further spread of COVID-19 in students, staff and the community and will continue to provide further updates as necessary.

Communicating with WRDSB families, students and staff is one of our guiding principles. In accordance with guidance from the Ministry of Education, the Confirmed Cases of COVID-19 page will be updated on an ongoing basis with information regarding confirmed cases of COVID-19 involving a student or staff member in a school setting.

We thank you for your continued support during this time.
