At the 2017 Inaugural Board Meeting, held December 4, trustees unanimously re-elected Scott McMillan as Chair of the Board for a second term. Ted Martin was re-elected as Vice-Chair. Trustee McMillan was first elected in 2014 to represent the townships of Woolwich and Wellesley.
“I am honoured by this election” said Trustee McMillan. “I am eager to continue working with Vice Chair Martin, the other Trustees and senior staff so that all of our students, each and every one, can reach their potential and achieve their success.”
Trustee Martin was first elected in 1997, served as Chair in 2014 and continues in the role as Vice-Chair this evening.
“First, I want to express my gratitude to the trustees for this opportunity,” said Trustee Martin. “I look forward to continuing in the role of Vice-Chair, and in supporting the education and well-being of each and every one of our students.”
“I am honoured to continue working with such a dedicated group of trustees,” said Director of Education John Bryant. “Trustee McMillan’s commitment to our students and staff is evidenced in his work as Chair, and I know Trustee Martin will continue to serve with the same commitment and dedication as we strive to achieve our ambitious strategic goals.”
“I would like to thank the Trustees for their effort this past year,” said Trustee McMillan. “It’s an exciting time to be a part of the Waterloo Region District School Board. The small improvements we have seen this year are the result of years of hard work from our trustees, senior staff , teachers, school administration and all of the support staff in the board. We are forging a new path forward, innovating today by educating tomorrow while we work to achieve the ambitious vision of our strategic plan.
