For the past two years, Williamsburg Public School has run numerous fundraising initiatives to raise money for Me to We, Free the Children‘s charity partner.

With the ongoing support of the school’s Me to We club, their latest fundraising venture was a phenomenal success. The students organized a bake sale and raised $3,500! This helped the school surpass their fundraising goal of $10,000, and were able to write a cheque to Me to We for $12,000! But it doesn’t stop there! Because Williamsburg PS made their contribution before May 15, 2015, Me to We matched their donation up to an additional $5,000, making the school’s contribution $17,000!

The overwhelmingly generous support of the entire Williamsburg PS community has made this achievement possible. From popcorn sales, to picture day with school mascot, Rafiki bracelet sales, and the bake sale, parents, students and staff have all played a role, going above and beyond in each of the Me to We club endeavours.

A special thank you to all of the Grade 6 Me to We club students (past and present) who have demonstrated tremendous leadership and responsibility; they have put in a lot of time and effort to help make a difference. On behalf of the WRDSB, we are so proud to have such committed community and global leaders making this world a better place – you each have a bright future ahead of you!

“No matter what anyone says, never, ever forget that changing the world is the coolest thing you can do.” – Marc Kielburger
