The staff, students and school community of J.W. Gerth Public School took to the pavement for the Heart and Stroke Foundation‘s Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser. With the sun shining, students ran outside, took their positions and skipped for more than an hour. Parents and teachers got in on the fun, and Trustee Waddell made an appearance to do a little jump rope!

They kicked off the fundraising campaign with an assembly in April talking about the importance of fundraising, what the Heart and Stroke Foundation was all about, and sharing some health facts to help J.W. Gerth PS students understand more about heart disease. Did you know: according to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, every nine minutes a Canadian suffers a stroke. This number needs to change, and our students can help be that force!

We couldn’t be more excited to announce that J.W. Gerth PS donates an amazing $11,154.78! Those funds will have such an impact on the lives of Canadians across the country and here in the Waterloo Region. Congratulations on such a successful event! To the school community and all the donors, thank you for helping our students and donating to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
