The little, yet mighty, school of 230 students from Mackenzie King Public School has donated an incredible amount of money to the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC).
Through numerous fundraising initiatives, the Nickels for Nepal campaign raised $1577.68 for MCC – that’s 31,554 nickels – thanks to Mackenzie King PS staff and students! Gagan and Shymon, two students who recently moved from Nepal to Canada, presented the cheque to MCC. In addition, the Government of Canada is also matching all Nepal relief donations, making their total contribution $3155.36 – INCREDIBLE! The money raised will go directly towards the relief efforts in Nepal from the April 25th earthquake that affected millions of people.
A special thank you to Mrs. Kehl and Ms. Humphrys for their ongoing support and enthusiasm in making this campaign of giving happen. But it wouldn’t have been possible without the Mackenzie King PS school community – you responded with generosity and empathy! Thank you for helping make an impact and difference to lives around the world.
