Just in time for spring cleaning!

As part of Bridgeport Public School‘s fundraising efforts, the school asked their families to donate unwanted clothing or household linens instead of taking them to a thrift store. To make it easier for transportation, families were then encouraged to put their donations into a garbage bag and bring it to the school’s annual Music Night.

The next day, Mr. Read and his class took the bags from the storage area and weighed the collection – Bridgeport PS collected 1240kgs! Shortly after the weigh-in, an organization called Bag2School, a free fundraising solution which transforms second-hand clothing into cash for schools, picked up the donations and gave the school $186.00!

Bags2School will take the donated items and sell them if they are in good condition, or strip the clothes/linens into cloth so they can be recycled into goods that can be used in third world countries.

Once again the Bridgeport PS community came through to support others around the world with their donations.
