As we mark the three year anniversary of the targeted killing of a Muslim family in London, Ontario, we want to recognize the impact this horrific act has had on the students, staff, families and community members we serve. We are particularly mindful of the effect this event and other actions around the world have on students, staff, and families. This was a planned, premeditated act motivated by hate and Islamophobia.

We ask that all administrators and educators consider the trauma this anniversary may have on the Muslim staff, students and families in our schools and classrooms. This includes providing resources for careful consideration should be made if this tragedy is brought up by students in class.

If a student is in need of additional support, families can reach out to their principal, their teacher, or another trusted adult for support.
