Today is French Language Day. Established by the United Nations in 2010, French Language Day celebrates multilingualism and cultural diversity. It is also an opportunity to raise awareness of the history, culture and use of the French language worldwide. 

French Language in the WRDSB

In the Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB), we are proud to offer two pathways for students to learn French and grow their French language skills. 

Beginning in Grade 1, all students start their French language journey in core French. They receive 240 minutes of language instruction each week.

In Grade 2, students can continue core French or begin French immersion.
