Like many schools boards from across the Province, the WRDSB has been working hard to address a budget shortfall resulting from recent Ministry of Education funding decisions. In response to these budgetary challenges, and in an effort to minimize the impact on classrooms and students, reductions have been made to a variety of central positions.

As a result, we have reduced the senior team complement to do our part in addressing the budget shortfall.  With the retirement of a superintendent on our senior team, the decision was made to eliminate the existing two coordinating superintendent positions and create one associate director position. The reorganization of these roles and the elimination of one superintendent position will generate savings of approximately $150,000.

Following an interview and selection process, it is my pleasure to announce that Lila Read will assume the role of Associate Director, effective September 1, 2019.  Throughout her 25 years with the Waterloo Region District School Board, Lila has demonstrated a passion for public education and a relentless commitment to the success of each and every student.

The WRDSB remains committed to providing quality public education to our students and families in Waterloo Region. We wish all of our families a relaxing and re-energizing summer as we head into the 2019-2020 school year.

Director of Education
