After 31 years of commitment to learning and the well-being of students, Coordinating Superintendent Scott Lomax is preparing to bid farewell to the Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB), and will retire effective June 30, 2019.

“Scott’s leadership in education and devotion to our students – each and every one – will be truly missed. Having spent more than three decades dedicated to educating and bettering young people in Waterloo Region, he brought an extraordinary level of expertise to his role and the Waterloo Region District School Board,” said John Bryant, Director of Education. “On a personal level, I know we will all miss working alongside Scott and the energy, enthusiasm and passion he brought to the work we do every day.”

Scott Lomax, coordinating superintendent, is bidding farewell to the Waterloo Region District School Board. Scott will retire effective June 30, 2019.

Lomax’s impressive career in education began as a business teacher at Southwood Secondary School in Cambridge. He then went on to serve as vice-principal, then later principal at Grand River Collegiate Institute and Jacob Hespeler Secondary School. His career then took him to the Education Centre, where he served as a superintendent and ultimately, coordinating superintendent.

For Lomax, the next step to retirement is bittersweet. “The WRDSB is filled with many talented staff and leaders who make a difference every day. I was just lucky enough to be one of them. Not everyone can say they look forward to going to work each day. Sometimes I need to pinch myself,” he said. “Thank you to the many WRDSB colleagues who have made a difference in my life. You will be missed.”
