This afternoon, a student at Preston High School allegedly tampered with school computers which resulted in a small fire and a significant amount of smoke.  As a result, some students and staff members may have experienced smoke inhalation.  School administration immediately contacted Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Fire Services, and Waterloo Regional Police. Students were checked by EMS on scene and were encouraged to attend the hospital as a precaution. An investigation is currently underway and the room where the incident occurred is currently closed. It will be remediated once the police investigation is complete. The school will remain open and will be operating as usual. The Waterloo Region District School Board is taking this incident very seriously as the safety and well-being of our students and staff is our top priority.
