Once again, Lexington Public School has successfully participated in the Heart and Stroke Foundation‘s Jump Rope for Heart event. In the past decade, their school community has raised close to $80,000 to support programs and research around heart and stroke-related diseases.

In addition to the skipping activity, the students at Lexington PS decorated classroom doors with a Jump Rope for Heart theme. Mrs. Dunbar’s Grade 6 class showed spirit for the cause by tie dyeing “heart t-shirts” to wear for the event. The students then, on their own initiative, decided to tie dye socks and raise additional funds. They raised $288.75 from the sale of the tie dye socks. Overall, this year Lexington PS raised an incredible $9724.55 for the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

This generosity illustrates one of Lexington’s core values: Lexington PS students show heart!

Mrs. Hattle and Mrs. McLean, the coordinators of the event, would like to thank the students and the community for their continued support for this worthy cause.
