Speech and Hearing Month is a time to raise awareness and celebrate the excellent work of the Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) and Communicative Disorders Assistants (CDAs). Every day, SLPs and CDAs help WRDSB students communicate and engage in learning.

Speech-Language Pathology Services at the WRDSB

Speech-Language Pathology staff support students in developing their understanding and communication skills, in collaboration with families, educators, WRDSB staff, and community providers. Oral language and communication plays an integral role in developing the literacy and learning skills needed for future success in school and life.

All schools have access to Speech-Language Pathology Services, with elementary schools assigned an SLP. Additionally, SLPs and CDAs offer support to students with varied and complex needs. These services are responsive to students with different communication skills, including those who are beginning to communicate.
