On May 29th, a ceremony at Grand River Collegiate Institute in Kitchener, marked the 10th year that students from Toyota Technical Skills Academy in Japan have been participating in a week-long visit to Waterloo Region. Faciliated by Muskoka Language International, 90 Japanese students and their instructors are participating in classroom visits, school activities, tours, cultural presentations and family homestays. Today’s official ceremony featured speeches of welcome from Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada, municipal and provincial representatives, host schools and both local boards of education. For one week, these energetic and curious visitors get to experience high school life in Canada! The ceremony was a wonderful beginning to what is certain to be an unforgettable week ahead.
