Today is Take Me Outside Day!

Take Me Outside Day in the WRDSB

What does this mean for Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) students? It could mean fresh air, a different perspective, and the chance to explore beyond classroom walls.

Take Me Outside Day raises awareness about the benefits of outdoor and land-based learning. Across the WRDSB, teachers are encouraged to take their students outdoors during the school day. Some students may take a nature journal out under a tree for a poetry assignment. Other classes may apply their measurement, geometry, or mapping knowledge to the natural landmarks around their school.

Across Turtle Island, Indigenous leaders have called on all nations to listen to and learn from the Land. Taking our learning outdoors can be a way for students to honour this call and reconnect to the environment.
