Waterloo Region District School Board – Board Meeting

Trustees approved the following minutes:

Reports

Interim Financial Report & Forecast at February 28, 2013 (For Information)
This report presents the Interim Financial Report for the period ending February, 2013 and to forecast the year-end financial position for the 2012-2013 budget year. The WRDSB reviews its expenditures on a quarterly basis with the approved budget.

Suspension/Expulsion Report March 31, 2013 (For Information)
The report provides information about suspensions and expulsions for March 2013, as well as the data for the same month in 2012. Year-to-date suspensions and expulsions up to March 2013 are included in the report.

Staffing Information – Retirements and Resignations (For Information)
Staff members who are retiring or resigning from the Board are listed in this report. Sixty-six staff members with over 1,639 years of service will retire from the WRDSB. Four staff members resigned.

Staffing Recommendations – Appointments (For Approval)
The Board is pleased to appoint three support staff and one elementary teacher. The report lists the names of these new staff members.

Trustees approved the following recommendation:
That the Waterloo Region District School Board approve the appointments to staff as outlined in the report titled “Staffing Recommendations – Appointments”, dated April 29, 2013.

OPSBA 2013 Annual General Meeting – Trustee Confirmations or Appointments (For Approval)
The Ontario Public School Boards’ Association (OPSBA), in preparation for its June annual general meeting, requests that school boards appoint Trustees for the positions of Voting Delegate/Director and Alternate Voting Delegate/Alternate Director.

Trustees voted to approve the following recommendations:

  • That the Waterloo Region District School Board (confirm or appoint) Trustee Ramsay as its Voting Delegate for the June 2013 Annual General Meeting for the Ontario Public School Boards’ Association.
  • That the Waterloo Region District School Board (confirm or appoint) Trustee Johnston as its Alternate Voting Delegate for the June 2013 Annual General Meeting for the Ontario Public School Boards’ Association.
  • That the Waterloo Region District School Board (confirm or appoint) Trustee Smith as its Director to the Ontario Public School Boards’ Association Board of Directors for the period of July 2013 to July 2014.
  • That the Waterloo Region District School Board (confirm or appoint) Trustee Johnston as its Alternate Director to the Ontario Public School Boards’ Association Board of Directors for the period of July 2013 to July 2014.
