A complete application consists of the following elements:

  • A fully completed and signed application form
  • Basic contact details, including mailing address, phone number and e-mail address
  • A transcript of your academic record to date
  • A copy of your most recent report card
  • A letter of recommendation from your school, written by a senior official, such as your principal, guidance counselor, or a teacher
  • The applicant must provide official confirmation, to the school guidance department of your registration at a university, college or private post-secondary school horticultural program
  • Essay: A 500 word essay detailing your past, current and future role in horticulture

Application Scoring:

The scoring percentage breakdown for individual applications is as follows:

  • Academic achievement 40% of total score
  • Essay 30% of total score
  • Level of Horticultural activity/participation 30% of the score
  • Essay will be judged by a panel comprised of three (3) and will be scored based on the following criteria:
    • clarity of thought
    • creativity/originality
    • potential positive impact
    • grammar and spelling
