A complete application consists of the following elements:
- A fully completed and signed application form
- Basic contact details, including mailing address, phone number and e-mail address
- A transcript of your academic record to date
- A copy of your most recent report card
- A letter of recommendation from your school, written by a senior official, such as your principal, guidance counselor, or a teacher
- The applicant must provide official confirmation, to the school guidance department of your registration at a university, college or private post-secondary school horticultural program
- Essay: A 500 word essay detailing your past, current and future role in horticulture
Application Scoring:
The scoring percentage breakdown for individual applications is as follows:
- Academic achievement 40% of total score
- Essay 30% of total score
- Level of Horticultural activity/participation 30% of the score
- Essay will be judged by a panel comprised of three (3) and will be scored based on the following criteria:
- clarity of thought
- creativity/originality
- potential positive impact
- grammar and spelling
