Preston High School (PHS) hosted their 25th Annual Senior Christmas Dinner for more than 160 seniors from local Preston retirements homes: Fairview Mennonite Home, Golden Years Nursing Home, Cambridge Country Manor, Riverbend Place, Saint Luke’s Place, and St. Peter’s Place. With the help of 160 students and 30 staff members, guests were served a traditional turkey dinner and enjoyed musical performances, caroling, and a visit from Santa.

The annual event started in 1989 as an idea of former teacher and head activity director, John Thompson. As a recent retiree of PHS, John still likes to be part of this wonderful community event, and attended last night’s gathering. The organizing role has been passed on to PHS head librarian, Sara Bauer.

Last night was a time for staff, students, seniors and community members to come together and enjoy a delicious meal. It helped start conversations that allowed each generation to get to know a complete stranger, learn from them, and form connections within the Preston community.

PHS staff and students would like to thank Sharp Bus Lines Ltd. for donating their time and transporting the seniors.

Well done, Panthers, for giving back to your community and sharing in the spirit of the holiday season.
