As part of our ongoing efforts to support Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) students, parents, families and caregivers, we have partnered with Waterloo Region Family Network and Waterloo Catholic District School Board to offer workshops that support students in navigating the school system.

Preparing For IEP Success – Understanding The Plan And Your Role

When: Tuesday, October 6, 2026 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.

Where: Waterloo Region District School Board Education Centre, 51 Ardelt Ave., Kitchener

Event focus:

  • Universal Design for Learning: inclusive teaching for diverse learners
  • Individual Education Plan (IEP) purpose, team, and family role in decisions
  • Accommodations vs. modifications
  • Alternate programming
  • Key questions families should ask during the IEP process.

Transitioning To High School – Planning, Pathways, And Supports

When: Tuesday, November 3, 2026 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Where: Waterloo Catholic District School Board Education Centre, 35 Weber St. W., Unit A, Kitchener

Event focus:

  • Programs, pathways, and course selection guidance
  • Accommodations vs. modifications in secondary settings
  • Secondary supports and available resources
  • Transition planning (current school, receiving secondary school, and IEP)
  • Preparation for Grade 8 transition meetings, info nights, and key questions families should ask
