Students congratulate their teacher, Tania Bumstead

On May 7, Tania Bumstead was presented with the Prime Minister’s award for teaching excellence in STEM.

Tania has been teaching for the past 18 years and is currently a teacher at Vista Hills Public School. She is an innovative teacher who believes in teaching students to be equipped for the future, whatever that may bring. She incorporates technology in her classroom to help students develop skills such as digital literacy, problem solving, reasoning and risk taking.

Tania tries to model and demonstrate these skills to her students. She said that if she takes risks and does something new in her classroom, then her students will see that it is OK for them to take risks when learning too.

Congratulations Tania! Your passion and commitment to education through STEM is truly inspiring.
