On Thursday March 5th, we held our 6th annual Employment Fair for students destined for the workplace after graduation.

Twenty-two interviewers from ten local companies were on hand interviewing students for a variety of full-time, part-time and summer positions. Over 60 students from WRDSB secondary schools participated in the event. Counsellors from the Kitchener-Waterloo and Cambridge Employment Ontario offices met with students prior to their interviews to provide them with some pre-interview coaching to help them make a positive impression on prospective employers.

As part of the interview process, the employers provided written feedback to each student interviewed. Between interviews the students had an opportunity to review the feedback with an Employment counsellor before heading off to the next interview. The event not only gave students the chance to secure a job, but the opportunity to develop valuable employability skills as well.

As a thank you for being part of this event, the interviewers and the employment counsellors were treated to a dinner prepared by students from our Hospitality programs at Glenview Park Secondary School and Grand River Collegiate Institute. As well, the students were provided with gourmet bagged lunches prepared by the students in the Kitchener-Waterloo Collegiate & Vocational School (KCI) Hospitality program.
