On May 28, the Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) acknowledges Menstrual Health Day to promote:
- Education around periods
- The struggle for menstrual equity
- Advocacy for policy change
Commonly known as Menstrual Hygiene Day, we are using the word ‘health’ not ‘hygiene’. This is part of an effort to de-stigmatize periods.
Addressing Period Equity in WRDSB
The WRDSB has been working to address period equity in our school board since 2019. Providing free products to students is one step toward menstrual equity. It supports students in attending school physically and emotionally, without stigma or barriers.
