The Waterloo Region District School Board is proud to support the regions’ plan to expand emergency child care for frontline workers.

Starting May 11th, the YMCA located inside Groh PS in Kitchener will open, offering spaces to families of frontline workers who need it.

“We have a long-standing partnership with the YMCA, with childcare locations in many of our schools across the region,” said John Bryant, director of education. “Providing safe, healthy spaces for students to engage in learning and social development is our priority, especially now as we collectively face this health pandemic. I am pleased that this partnership continues and is as strong as ever as we serve our community.”

WRDSB worked closely with staff at the Region of Waterloo and YMCA to ensure all provincial requirements are in place for safe operation, including cleaning and custodial and maintenance services.

More information on the emergency child care program is available on the Region of Waterloo’s website.
