Our teachers and educational support staff provide critical support to 64,000 students in our system, across 121 schools and in our education centre, every day. They are committed to providing our students with an education that promotes a love of learning, exploring areas of interest, and preparing them for their pathway after graduation. As our board has previously stated, larger class sizes and mandatory e-learning do not meet these commitments.

We understand that job action is frustrating for our families, students and staff. Trustees will continue to advocate for students, families and educators at the central bargaining table. We are hopeful that an agreement can be reached soon.

Chairperson of the Waterloo Region District School Board
