The Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) understands that International Student Exchanges provide opportunities to interact with different cultures, increase language skills and gain a better understanding of global culture. To ensure that appropriate measures are taken to prevent risk or harm while on student exchange programs, the WRDSB has signed agreements with several reputable exchange organizations.
To qualify as a student exchange program, the exchange must be reciprocal to avoid paying tuition fees as per the Education Act section 49(7)(a).
The WRDSB has agreements in place with the following organizations to facilitate reciprocal student exchanges:
- Rotary Club International
- International Student Exchange (ISE) – Exchanges cancelled for September 2020, starting February 2021
- Canadian Education Exchange Foundation (CEEF) – Operations ceased, exchanges cancelled for Summer 2020 and exchanges planned for 2020-21
- Organisme de Séjours Educatifs Francophones (OSEF ASBL)
Anyone interested in participating in an international student exchange should contact these organizations.
