We are currently in the process of notifying families of their placements in Grade 1 French Immersion classes for the 2022/2023 school year. If you applied for French Immersion, please check your email for a message from noreply@wrdsb.ca.

Here are a few answers to your frequently asked questions:

We didn’t get into our top choice; is this a mistake?

We have a limited number of spaces available at each school. We will always try and accommodate your child at their home school first, then their next highest priority school (if you picked other options). We create waiting lists when more students apply to French Immersion than there is space available. A prioritized lottery system determines which students are accepted into the program and on a waiting list. There is no guarantee of acceptance into the program at your Home School. 

Accepting a position at another school does not remove your child from waiting lists for their home school and 1st alternative (if applicable). Should a spot open up at your home school (or 1st alternative choice), we will contact you to determine if you want to accept that position. We will continue to place students until mid-September 2022.

I applied for French Immersion, but I haven’t received an email yet.

We are working through our notifications, so please be patient. Sometimes emails go directly to spam folders, so please check there. You can also log into your application and check the status under “Existing Applications.”

My child was accepted; now what?

Please confirm or decline your acceptance using the email sent by Tuesday, March 15, 2022. If we do not receive your confirmation by the end of the day on March 15, 2022, we will offer your spot to someone on the waiting list. If you are declining, please indicate why. Please note that in your comments, if you want to remain on a waiting list elsewhere.
