February 21st, 2025
We are in the process of notifying families about their placements in Grade 2 French immersion classes for the 2025/2026 school year. If you applied for French immersion, please check your email for a message from noreply@wrdsb.ca.
Here are a few answers to your frequently asked questions:
My child was accepted; now what?
Please confirm or decline your acceptance using the email that was sent to you. If we do not receive your confirmation within 14 days, we will offer your spot to someone on the waiting list. If you choose to decline, kindly indicate your reason. If you are declining but wish to remain on the waiting list for another school, please mention that in your comments.
My child wasn’t accepted at our top choice; is this a mistake?
We have limited spaces at each school and prioritize accommodating students at their Home School. If applicants exceed available spots, a lottery will select students to be placed in the classroom. If alternative schools are selected, students on waiting lists will be considered at their next priority school. Accepting a spot in an alternative school means your child stays on the waiting list for the Home School and/or Alternative School. If a spot opens at your Home School or the next alternative, we will email you to see if you accept. We will place students until the end of September 2025.
My child is on a waiting list; now what?
If a student offered a spot declines, we will contact individuals on waiting lists to fill those openings. Students may remain on up to three waiting lists to increase their chances of admission. Should a position become available at one of your choices, we will contact you via e-mail to see if you would like to accept that position. We will continue placing students until the end of September 2025.
Additional information about waiting lists is available on our website.
I applied for French immersion but am still waiting to receive something.
We are working through our notifications, so we appreciate your patience. Sometimes, emails go directly to spam folders, so please check there. We notify students on class lists first, and students on the waiting list will be contacted second.
