We are currently sending emails to families about their child’s placement in Grade 2 French Immersion for the 2026–2027 school year.

If you applied for French Immersion, please check your inbox for a message from noreply@wrdsb.ca.

Below are answers to common questions from families:

My child was accepted. What should I do next?

Please use the link in the email we sent to confirm or decline your child’s placement.

  • You have 14 days to respond.
  • If we do not receive a confirmation, the space will be offered to the next family on the waitlist.
  • If you decline the offer, please tell us the reason.
  • If you decline but want to stay on a waitlist for another school, you may note that in your comments.

My child was not placed at our first‑choice school. Is this an error?

This is not a mistake.

  • Each school has limited space.
  • Students are placed first at their Designated School.
  • If the number of applicants is higher than the available spaces, we use a lottery to select students.

If you selected alternative schools, your child will be placed on the waitlist(s) for those schools. You can check your waitlist status by logging in to your application (Existing Applications > Status).

If your child receives a spot at the Designated School or at your next preferred school, we will contact you by email.

We will continue placing students until October 5. 2026.

My child is on a waitlist. What happens now?

If someone declines their spot, we will offer it to the next family on the waitlist.

  • Students may stay on up to three waitlists.
  • If a space becomes available, we will email you to ask whether you want to accept it.

We will continue placing students until October 5. 2026.

For more details, visit our Waitlists page on the WRDSB website.

I applied for French Immersion but have not received an email.

Thank you for your patience. We are still working through all notifications.

Please also check your spam or junk folder, as emails may be filtered there.

  • Students who have been offered a spot are notified first.
  • Families of students on waitlists will receive emails afterward.
