We as a Parent Involvement Committee are very pleased with the recent “Rise to Success” Conference. Over 300 people registered, and despite the beautiful weather over 225 people actually came. This is 100 more than last year. The participants came everywhere from Moffat Creek to Elmira District Secondary School, with Mary Johnson having the most with 8 parents. Bluevale Collegiate was a terrific host, and we are very thankful to Principal Mark Hunniford, School Council Chair Mary Ball, and the many other members of both Bluevale Parent Council and the Bluevale Student Council that assisted with the event.

We would especially like to thank the many volunteers who assisted with the event, doing everything from serving food to registration to speaker introductions. As the survey results attached below show, the many speakers were also appreciated.

Donations from the companies listed helped to make this event a success. Were it not for in kind donations such as these, we would not be able to afford to run a conference such as Rise to Success:

  • Martin’s Family Fruit Farm
  • General Mills (Yoplait)
  • Treasure Mills
  • Culligan Water
  • GT French Paper
  • Williams Fresh Cafe
  • Ontario Ministry of Education

We have applied for another grant from the Ministry of Education so that we can do a similar event next year. Please save APRIL 18TH, 2015 AND TELL YOUR FRIENDS. We are planning on focusing on “skill building for parents: how to navigate the school years.”
