The Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) is a diverse district school board consisting of 122 schools – as well as alternative and continuing education sites – that work to build the confidence and encourage the success of approximately 65,000 students as they face the future.  The WRDSB is seeking an exceptional leader for the position of Superintendent Facility Services – someone who embraces accountability, human rights and equity in a highly visible role.

Facility Services is responsible for capital construction and renovation projects, custodial services, school building and grounds maintenance, facility management services, energy and environmental management, and community use of schools. With more than 500 professional and dedicated team members that strive to provide excellent customer service, WRDSB’s Facility Services team is proud to provide a safe, clean and positive educational environment for the students and staff who use the buildings and grounds each school day.

The Superintendent of Facility Services (Superintendent) will lead the way in the management and development of facilities at the WRDSB and provide innovative oversight into design, construction, maintenance, operations, planning, and environmental and sustainability initiatives across the WRDSB’s operations. Leading the Facilities and Capital Projects teams, the Superintendent is responsible for maintaining relationships and managing the work of a number of contract service providers including engineers, architects & custodial staff. This role liaises with the Ministry of Education and the Ontario Association of School Board Officials to ensure that the WRDSB is represented on provincial interest items.

The WRDSB is seeking an exceptional leader who embraces accountability, human rights and equity in a highly visible role. You bring progressive leadership experience managing facilities, maintenance, and construction within a large and complex organization, ideally unionized. A diploma in facilities management, a professional engineer, and/or OAA certification is an asset, as is knowledge of effective and efficient building operations and relevant codes and standards. You are a relationship builder with experience in multi-stakeholder environments, and an effective communicator with strong analytical and decision-making skills.  A hands-on leader, you understand the complexity of supporting a large institutional ecosystem and have a proven track record managing multiple projects and responsibilities at any given time. You understand the direct impact support services has on the learning environment.  A collaborative and innovative leader, you can drive sustainability initiatives while overseeing buildings and assets in accordance with the WRDSB’s mission:
