Temporary Behavioural Management Systems (BMS) Liaison (MM1)

The WRDSB Behaviour Management Systems Liaison (BMSL) is an essential member of the BMS Team that includes BMSL’s, a BMS Lead and an Administrative Assistant.
As a BMSL, the successful candidate will focus on ensuring the student has the best opportunity to learn by supporting the school staff to develop resources and strategies by using relational based practice as a way of communicating and resolving difficulties. The BMSL also encourages opportunities to build and strengthen the development of relationships that are essential for effective interventions. Along with facilitating school referrals, the BMSL will also be trained as a Lead trainer in BMS and be a leader in the delivery of the system BMS training plan and development of the training resources.
The successful applicant for this Temporary Mid-Management Level 1 position ($82,545 – $96,087), will be working 40 hours per week, 12 months per year, effective September 2, 2025 to August 31, 2026.
Responsibilities
- Prioritize and respond to BMSL referrals using the Support for Student system
- Conduct classroom Safety Audits as needed
- Classroom observation (student specific) in an effort to help identify antecedent to high-risk behaviour that would inform the development of or the revision of a Safety Plan
- Role model and teach BMS strategies focusing on key areas including: preventative strategies, indicators ,de-escalation for student specific referrals
- Debriefing-formalized team debrief post incident on existing referrals or after a significant incident BMS related
- BMS coaching to the classroom team
- Complete case notes for the students being supported in Support for Students
- Respond to training questions related to BMS
- Organize, facilitate and lead both large group and small group training sessions
- Prepare resources that support the BMS training and philosophies
- Provision of own vehicle for Board business and requirement for travel to WRDSB sites
- Participate in Mindful Educators training and use the training strategies in this role at school sites.
- Be trained as a Lead BMS Trainer
- Actively participate in the development of the BMS system training plan
- Collaborate with the BMS team members and other departments within WRDSB
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Must have a Child and Youth Worker diploma/certificate or Social Service Worker diploma, Social Worker certificate, psychology degree, OR a current certificate of equivalency from the Ontario Association of Child and Youth Care (OACYC) , or membership with the Ontario College of Social Workers and/or Social Services Worker along with 5 years of experience with children in an educational or similar type setting.
- Minimal of 2 years experience preparing and delivering training to large audiences
- Current BMS Trainer in good standing
- High level of competency and knowledge in BMS procedures, theory, philosophies and legislation
- Minimum of 2 years of leadership/supervisory experience including; strategic and critical thinking, creativity, organization and professionalism preferred
- Ability to strategize and implement resources, tools to ensure the safety of students and staff members
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Efficient ability to prepare documents using Google (sheets, docs), Power Point
