As we prepare to welcome students to the Secondary Remote Learning Program (SRLP), we want to provide an overview of what students can expect with respect to their teachers and course offerings.

Teachers

The teachers in our SRLP will be qualified subject teachers working from their home school as a base, or in some specially accommodated cases from a work at home environment. Teachers in the SRLP will be dedicated to remote learning classrooms, and will not be teaching in-person and remote learning simultaneously.

Remote Learning teachers will be available and teaching in the program during the same school hours as our face-to-face school teachers. We will be supporting these teachers in their practice and they will look forward to engaging with our Remote Learning students in both synchronous (real-time) and asynchronous (teacher/student working at different times) teaching methods.

Course Offerings

Every effort has been made to offer courses that students require for their chosen pathways to graduation.

The Secondary Remote Learning Program will provide

  • Limited course options at each grade level for each pathway
  • Programs NOT available: Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM), French Immersion, Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), Integrated Arts Program (IAP)

Where students require specific courses not available through the Secondary Remote Learning Program, they will then have the option to select from a catalogue of E-learning courses. Your child’s home school guidance teacher can help you select and sign up for courses.
