The Waterloo Region District School Board’s eLearning courses are designed to allow currently registered secondary students to take courses and earn school credits on days and at times that are convenient for them.

WRDSB is a member of the Ontario eLearning Consortium (OeLC), along with 55 other Ontario School Boards.  This membership allows WRDSB secondary students to register in courses with other member Boards of the OeLC via the WRDSB and opens up their opportunity to access courses that may not be available to them in their home school.

There are set due dates for assignments and assessments, but each week students have the flexibility to get coursework done as their daily schedule permits. Daily participation and regular interaction with the teacher and classmates generally leads to the greatest success in eLearning.

Why Do Students Consider Online Learning?

e-Learning:

  • expands course availability and timetable flexibility (i.e. provides access to courses that might otherwise be unavailable due to timetable conflicts, courses not being offered, or courses having full enrolment)
  • time management flexibility
  • provides an engaging, creative and interactive learning environment that may compliment a student’s learning style
  • prepares students for college, university and the world of work

How to Access the Virtual Learning Environment

WRDSB Students

To access the Virtual Learning Environment go to wrdsb.elearningontario.ca. Students can login with their WRDSB email and password.

Non-WRDSB Students

To access a WRDSB eLearning class you have been enrolled in, go to your school district’s Virtual Learning Environment homepage, login with your home board email and password, and access the “My Courses in Other Boards” widget. Your WRDSB eCourse should appear in that widget. Contact your home school board’s guidance counselor or eLearning Contact for assistance.
