New Housing Developments – Holding School Assignments

Areas of new housing development are often assigned to holding schools until all or a portion of the new area can be added to a new or existing school’s attendance area.

The following holding school assignments were announced on May 15, 2017 in the Accommodation Planning 2017-2018 Report:

Cambridge

Hunt Club/Arriscraft plan of subdivision 30T-12103 and 30T-12104

River Mill North subdivision (phase 1) assigned to the following holding schools:

  • Hillcrest Public School for Grades JK to 6
  • Woodland Park Public School for Grades 7 and 8
  • Jacob Hespeler Secondary School for Grades 9 to 12

River Mill Estate Lots (Burnham Crescent, Starr Crescent and Ratcliffe Drive) students are temporarily assigned to the following holding schools:

  • Silverheights Public School for Grades JK to 8
  • Jacob Hespeler Secondary School for Grades 9 to 12

River Mill South subdivision (phase 1) students have been assigned to the following holding schools:

  • Preston Public School for Grades JK to 6
  • William G. Davis Public School for Grades 7 and 8

Students will continue to be accommodated at holding schools until the new Janet Metcalfe Public School, also known as new South Kitchener (Seabrook/Rosenberg III) elementary school, opens in September 2018. The attendance boundary for the new school will be determined through the Fischer-Hallman/Huron Boundary Study

Mattamy Homes “Wildflowers” Stages 1, 2, 3 and 6 are assigned to the following holding schools:

  • Queen Elizabeth Public School for Grades JK to 6
  • Laurentian Public School for Grades 7 and 8
