Re: Update on the new South Kitchener (Groh Dr.) Elementary School

The Waterloo Region District School Board’s new South Kitchener (Groh Dr.) Elementary School, to be located at 225 Thomas Slee Drive, Kitchener is scheduled to open for the 2017/18 school year (September 2017). It was originally planned to open in 2015/16; however, delays in site acquisition (plan of subdivision registration) and building permit issuance have forced the Board to delay the opening a second time to 2017/18. You are invited to a community meeting to discuss these delays and hear about the plan to move forward.

PURPOSE OF THE PUBLIC MEETING:

To share information on the timing and implementation of the opening of the new school and subsequent boundary changes (as approved through the Doon South Boundary Study)

To answer questions from parents and members of the community.  

MEETING FORMAT:  The meeting will consist of a presentation beginning at 7:00 PM, followed by a question and answer session. Board Planning staff, school design consultants along with representatives from the City of Kitchener and Activa Holdings Inc. will be available to answer questions. Display boards with site and floor plans for the new school will be available for viewing.
