The Priority Schools initiative is a joint project between the Waterloo Region District School Board and the Ministry of Education aimed at making our school spaces more accessible in communities that need it most.
As part of the Community Use of Schools program, the Ontario Ministry of Education has selected schools throughout the province to provide enhanced access to its facilities during non-school hours. For these schools, funding has been specifically established to provide free access for not-for-profit groups with priority given to groups serving children, youth and low income groups.
For the 2018-19 school year, the Waterloo Region District School Board has three Priority School sites:
- Cedarbrae Public School
- Kitchener-Waterloo Collegiate Institute (KCI)
- Stewart Ave Public School
