The Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) has an updated School-Police Protocol, developed in partnership with the Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS).

This updated protocol reflects our ongoing commitment to equity, safety, and collaboration across our school communities. It outlines guiding principles that uphold the dignity and rights of every individual, foster respectful and civil learning environments, and ensure protection against discrimination under the Ontario Human Rights Code.

The protocol strengthens connections between schools, police, and the broader community by:

  • Enhancing safety and well-being for all students and staff
  • Supporting violence prevention through proactive, coordinated approaches
  • Encouraging engagement with parents, families, caregivers and community partners to promote students’ success
  • Recognizing and addressing systemic barriers through inclusive practices and polices

We thank our partners at WRPS for their shared dedication to making WRDSB schools safe, inclusive, and supportive places to learn and grow.
