All of us are shocked and saddened by the events that unfolded in Portapique, Nova Scotia yesterday. Our thoughts are with all those affected, and we are grateful for the bravery of the emergency personnel who acted quickly to protect the community.

Although we cannot be together in person, it is essential that when we are connecting with one another, we do so with kindness and empathy.

Our schools may be closed but our educators and support staff will continue to ensure that our distance learning connections with students are safe spaces. Support is available for anyone who is feeling vulnerable – at any time. Please encourage anyone who is struggling to seek out that support by talking to a friend, a parent, a family member, a teacher or a colleague.

Should you need support for yourself, a child or loved one, the following resources are available:

Here 24/7            519-821-3582
Front Door          519-749-2932 (Children and Youth)
KidsHelpPhone 1-800-668-6868

As a sign of support and in recognition of this great loss, the flags at our Education Centre will be lowered until the end of this week.

We are fortunate to live in a supportive community, where we can lean on one another in times like this. Please take care of yourselves and one another.
